Hayley’s (Teen) Fall and Winter Fun January 22, 2016 by Lydia Berg, MRW 2015As winter is now upon us, I can finally take a moment to stop, catch my breath, and post and update about my fantastic journey as Miss Teen Rodeo Wisconsin! From many more rodeo appearances, the Midwestern Rodeo in Manawa, the Iron River Rodeo, and the Brown County Fair Rodeo, to other county fairs, particularly the Wisconsin Valley Fair, and many more festivals and events! Each rodeo seemed better than the last and it makes me a little sad to realize I have to wait all the way until the Midwest Horse Fair for another one! Buttons, my rodeo partner and amazingly talented horse, can’t wait for next summer already! At the Wisconsin Valley Fair, I was invited to partake in a butter carving contest… yes, that’s right, butter carving! I decided to carve a pig, but I was told it looked more like a hamster! Even if it was proven I am not an artist, it was a fantastic experience I was able to share with the Wisconsin River Pro Rodeo Queen Morgan Zernicke,. I also attended the Greendale Hay Days Festival with Miss Rodeo Wisconsin, Lydia Berg. It was a great day to teach all the kids how to rope some steer dummies and I was able to get some practice in myself! After that, Lydia and I participated in a walk for Down Syndrome Association of Wisconsin, or DSAW for short, at the Milwaukee County Zoo. Not only was it a great way to raise awareness, I was also able to see the newborn giraffe! It was so cute and I made a ton of new friends at the event as well! I also did a few parades, such as the one in my hometown of Shiocton. Overall, my summer was packed with exciting, once in a lifetime adventures and I can’t wait for more to come! Just last week, I was able to travel to Spooner, Wisconsin to help celebrate the coronation of Miss Rodeo Wisconsin 2016 – Beth Kujala. I can’t wait to attend events with Beth in the coming months! In February, I will be heading to Fort Pierce, Florida for the State Teen Rodeo Queen Weekend. I will be participating on rodeo events at the Fort Pierce Rodeo, as well as spending a day at Disney World and riding horses on the beach. I will post some pictures and an update after that experience! I am having a blast representing Wisconsin and the Sport of Rodeo! I highly encourage all young women to think about competing for this title!
